Overview

LazyTeach.com is an AI-powered educational tool that revolutionizes lesson planning for middle-school teachers. Built in just 10 hours using Next.js and GPT-4o, it generates complete lesson plans with worksheets, answer keys, and guided notes tailored to specific grade levels, subjects, and teaching tones.

Challenge

Middle-school teachers spend 2-3 hours per week creating lesson plans and substitute plans. This time-consuming process takes away from actual teaching and student engagement. Teachers needed a solution that could generate high-quality, customized educational materials quickly without sacrificing quality.

Solution

I built LazyTeach using Next.js, TypeScript, and OpenAI's GPT-4o model. The application takes teacher inputs (grade level, subject, topic, and desired tone) and generates comprehensive lesson plans in under a minute. Each plan includes structured content, worksheets with answer keys, and guided notes that can be immediately used in the classroom. The system is optimized for speed and accuracy, with a clean, intuitive interface designed for teachers.

Impact

  • Saves teachers 2-3 hours per week on lesson planning
  • Generates complete lesson materials in under 60 seconds
  • Built and deployed in under 10 hours from concept to production
  • Used by educators to create hundreds of lesson plans
